A Team Cooking Contest and Exhibition
Similar to the Iron Chef reality show, the Galley Wars competition pits military culinary specialists against each other in a contest to prepare the best food using only surprise ingredients. Chefs and their brigades ordinarily come from ships participating in Fleet Week Port Everglades. This year, with a focus on our local military units, each branch has been teamed up with culinary students attending The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and supervised by command volunteers. An exciting and challenging competition, our chefs receive awards, acclaim and token prizes. The fortunate who attend the competition enjoy an outstanding meal prepared by some of the most talented and resourceful military culinary specialists in the country and a festive evening with an open bar, live music and tropical pig roast to compliment the competitor’s creations.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Military IDs are required for complimentary seating provided to our armed forces guests and their families.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Valet parking is provided if arriving by car.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Gold, Silver, Bronze or Corporate table tickets are transferralbe. Individual tickets are not.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes please. If you have the Eventbrite mobile app, check-in is automatic.
What is the dress for this event?
Semi-formal or business. Military dress whites.

Our 23rd annual Fleet Week Port Everglades (FWPEV) is scheduled for April 29 - May 6, 2013. Presented by title sponsor Humana Military Healthcare Services – FWPEV is South Florida’s occasion to honor and celebrate our Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen for their services to our country. Demonstrate your support for our active duty military and their families by supporting Broward Navy Days, Inc.! Join us in thanking men and women of the military through this public event. Fleet Week’s magic is in the power of the partnership between our communities and the men and women who serve our nation in the naval services. These great young Americans felt a call to serve their country and are routinely sent to represent our nation, and to defend our strategic interests at great personal risk. Hours are long, pay is modest, and physical hardships and family separations are part of the job. South Floridians feel a unique bond to these Sailors, Marines and Coastguardsmen, and hundreds turn out to demonstrate that support each year and to enjoy the fun and excitement of world-class special events.
